Mission Statement:
The Town of Elsmere’s Public Works Department’s mission is to provide for the management and maintenance of the Town’s infrastructure, in conjunction with other agencies and contractors which may be responsible, including streets, trees, sidewalks and pathways; parks; creeks; sewers and storm drains; buildings and structures; vehicles and equipment; street lights, traffic signals, residential garbage, graffiti abatement and to facilitate environmental compliance. The department strives to provide top quality, professional, effective, and timely services to residents, businesses and internal customers.
About Public Works:
The Town of Elsmere Public Works Department is located at 220 New Road which is beneath the Elsmere Bridge also known as the Rt. 2 Viaduct.
The Public Works Department maintains all Town property including the repair of streets, street signs, the maintenance of Town buildings and snow removal among many other things.
Snow Removal: During snowfall you should avoid parking in the roadway. We encourage you to utilize your driveways so that we can clear the roadways as swiftly as possible.
The Town code requires that Ice or Snow be cleared from sidewalks adjacent to your property within 8 daylight hours after the snowfall stops. Pathways must be at least 3 feet wide in residential areas and 4 feet wide in commercial areas.
